DELL PERC H200 VS H700 INSTALL
If you install the Dell OpenManage tools this should help you view what physical disk matches what virtual disk without too much digging around and also monitor things like disk health too. What you could do and this is how MS setup their JBOD arrays for internal deploymentsis keep the H and setup a virtual disk on each physical disk so there is no RAID per-se at least no redundancy via the controllerand each disk is still presented to the OS albeit as a virtual diskwhat this lets you do is then take advantage of the controller caching which will help give you a nice little performance boost. I'm seeing conflicting information in that regards. The C also comes configured with a H so I was thinking of picking up a H and swapping it with the H Do I need different cables for the H?

I have seen an article or two where users have used Storage Spaces with a H One of the issues is that it would be very difficult to tell which disk is in which bay. I hope everyone gets benefit out of this and that a new Hyper-V 2012 Manager will be released for Win7 soon.I currently have a C that came with a H Didn't realize at the time that the H doesn't support IT mode. PS C:\> Add-VMHardDiskDrive -VMName Storage -Path c:\Storage.vhdx PS C:\> New-VHD –Path c:\Storage.vhdx –SizeBytes 20GB PS C:\> Get-VMScsiController –VMName Storage –Number 0 | Add-VMHardDiskDrive –DiskNumber 1Īdditionally, I mentioned the new VHDX not being available through Win7 Hyper-V Manager.
DELL PERC H200 VS H700 OFFLINE

One other problem I have found with Hyper-V Manager on Win7 is that you cannot create or assign the new VHDX drives. This was not actually true though, as a boot of the guest OS revealed that the physical disc was indeed conencted.

According to RSAT Hyper-V Manager, the option for physical disc was now selected, but the disc was listed as "Notįound". In my troubleshooting, I also could not see any Offline USB drives, so I manually added the physical disk to the VM using Powershell.
DELL PERC H200 VS H700 WINDOWS 7
RSAT Hyper-V Manager on Windows 7 does not handle several things correctly for 2012 (It was designed for 2008). Hopefully others will find my post helpful, as I identified the issue.
